Site navigation, product descriptions, and site checkout pages are the most common places your customers can get confused on your website.  Confusion in the minds of your customers most always leads to them abandoning the site before a sale.  Paying particular attention to these areas will help your customers feel good about their experience and reduce or eliminate any potential frustration they may feel when they shop your site.

When undergoing any site design these are areas I scrutinize heavily (at least related to this specific topic).

Product Returns: How Do You Compare To Other Online Retailers?

Earlier this week, I talked about  Product Returns: The Top Six Reasons For Online Returns.  Today I wanted to continue where I left off and share some additional information that came from the Supply Chain Consortium’s Distribution Center Operations Report:

-  More than half the survey respondants request feedback from customers on their return process and most do not feel good about what they learned.

-  Less than half of the companies surveyed required preapproval for a return

Answering My Email: How A Reader Of This Blog Taught Me A Lesson On Handling Criticism

Last week, I  got asked a question by one of my readers, as to why I spend time each day writing about online retailing and why I dedicate time to building this site when I could better spend my time doing other things. The email came across as a bit negative and skeptical in tone. It kind of irritated me at first, and then I realized it was a legitimate question, and one in which I learned something from (its ok to get criticism, it really is).
