Building An Online Store Right Before Your Eyes
There are many how-to guides and books that help people sell online. Most of the sites I come across give you definitions of what ecommerce is and give you basic advice. However, many do not go into enough detail to give you anything above and beyond just the cursory information. Since the biggest obstacle most potential ecommerce owners face is where to start and what to do, I decided I am going to undertake one of the biggest challenges I have faced to date on this website.
I’m not just going to write about setting up an online store. I am going to take you behind the scenes of what it takes to actually set one up.
Over the next few months, I am going to build an online store, right in front of your eyes. I am going to use a screen capture program to capture the activities as I narrate the steps I use to get a basic store up and running. Every 1-2 weeks, I plan on posting a “behind the scenes” look of the creation and setup process. The store will not be a live store, but it will be fully functioning. Once the store is fully functional, I will use it to demonstrate more advanced features.
I just uploaded the introductory ecommerce video to YouTube which describes the project in more detail. You can also find it in the Ecommerce Labs section on our site.
I hope that this will be extremely helpful, especially if you are the type of person who learns by seeing or watching in a video-style format. As always, if you have any specifics, or what you would like to see, or would like to suggest areas that you would like to see demonstrated, please respond to this post using the comments section.
