There are many how-to guides and books that help people sell online. Most of the sites I come across give you definitions of what ecommerce is and give you basic advice. However, many do not go into enough detail to give you anything above and beyond just the cursory information. Since the biggest obstacle most potential ecommerce owners face is where to start and what to do, I decided I am going to undertake one of the biggest challenges I have faced to date on this website. I just got the Facebook Fan site up and running for the Basics Of ECommerce website. Now, who’s going to be my first friend?
I think adding Facebook will help with the collaboration and discussion on the site since many of you may already hang out there. I have been slow at adopting Facebook for this site, mainly because I have been working hard at providing content versus worrying about promotion. In any case, I hope that we can connect through Facebook and it provides a useful tool.

Last week, I got asked a question by one of my readers, as to why I spend time each day writing about online retailing and why I dedicate time to building this site when I could better spend my time doing other things. The email came across as a bit negative and skeptical in tone.
