General Business Tips: Are You Organized?

If you’re not, consider becoming more so. Not only does it eliminate the stress of not being able to locate things – for example, that important document at the 11th hour – but it also creates a calming effect by giving the eye less clutter to get distracted by. A double whammy that can ensure your peace of mind!

I know that getting organized sounds like a huge, time-consuming chore…you’ve got a business to run after all, right? You’ll be happy to know that a little bit of it really does go a long way…

Start with arranging your files by category (financial, customer records, etc) and date, if necessary. Remember to label them before putting them in order, to enable finding them easier later. Avery offers free label templates for just about anything and will work with your word processing software so you can print them yourself.

Invest in a rectangular basket for catching mail or putting scrap paper in and a divided container for miscellaneous odds and ends, such as paper clips, pens or staples. This will help keep your desk (and your mind) much clearer.

With minimal planning, time and effort on your part, you can have a more organized office space that works to increase your overall efficiency.
