Google Caffeine: Another Major Upgrade To Google’s Search Engine
There has been a lot of buzz lately regarding Google’s newest version of its search engine, dubbed Caffeine. Rather than a change in the look and feel, which is to stay the same, the focus is on its indexing, speed and algorithm…a complete infrastructure redo.
Those who had tried it while in beta have said the speed is lightning fast, on average nearly twice the speed of the original Google, moving in real time (helpful for up to the minute news). It is also reported to be keyword/phrase-oriented and have a more robust indexing, meaning more results of relevance during a search.
More than anything, this heavier lean toward keywords has caused a bit of concern with webmasters who do now yet know how this will affect their page rankings or future SEO campaigns. This is largely because the scope of the new changes have (to date) been kept a secret. It has been indicated that SEO will become more reliant on keywords for higher ranking in the search engine in coming months, but this cannot be determined until the algorithm is better understood.
Caffeine is already out on one Google data center, as of Nov. 30, with the rest to be released after the holidays. Go to CompareCaffeine.com to compare both versions and see it for yourself.
Remember, content and site relevancy will ultimately make your site more popular. Don’t get too caught up in trying to figure out what Google will do. You’ll go nuts and it will distract you from what is important, and that is improving your business.
